From Negative to Positive

There is a sentiment among some consumers, business owners and managers of non-profits that the promo industry (promotional products) is nothing but trinkets and trash" and, in fact, contributes to pollution and global warming by introducing low costs, low quality goods to end users who have no interest in the products. The items are believed to be thrown away, which arguably contributes to environmental waste.

We at Omaha Promos would like to offer a counterpoint to that view, and make the argument we aren't peddlers of cheap trinkets, but rather valuable branded gear and merchandise which is not only useful for the recipient, but also creates a brand impression every time people use the items in question, or the items are seen by a third party.

We accomplish this by offering our clients more sustainable, carefully sourced products from reputable manufacturers. For example, one way we do this is by offering eco-conscious products that are biodegradable or made of recyclable components.

Another way Omaha Promos accomplishes our goal of only selling quality, useful items is we actually have a conversation with our customers revolving around "merch that matters" instead of trying to win orders on price point. For example, rather than handing out 500 items worth $1 apiece, Omaha Promos will usually attempt to guide a client to fewer higher quality items at a higher per piece price; the bottom line is about the same for us, but is almost always better for the company we're dealing with because the items will be received more favorably and are more likely to be held onto (creating repeat brand impressions down the road).

This can sometimes be a challenge because business marketing budgets aren't always exactly huge, particularly in this economy. That's when we have to educate the consumer and make sure they know a cheap $1 item is going to look, feel and be reacted to like a cheap $1 item. While this may be a cost effective marketing strategy in the short term, it can hurt a brand's reputation and worsen negative perceptions of both the client's industry and Omaha Promos' industry, so we really are stakeholders in the game, right alongside our client base.

We are actively encouraging a positive outlook and perception on the promo industry by reinforcing the value our products and services bring to our customers by providing branded merch products and wearables that are both functional and useful to the client.

At Omaha Promos, it's all about building relationships, educating our clients, and respecting both their available marketing budget and their brand's reputation in the marketplace.
